I have tried my upmost to ensure that all of my packaging is plastic free and that recycled materials are used wherever possible.
Packaging
All packaging at Brooke Marie is plastic free. Biodegradable cello is always used so if you find cellophane in your parcel it has been made using corn-starch. Greyboard which keeps prints and cards from bending in the post is always made from recycled materials and most of my envelopes are also made from 100% recycled post consumer waste. Tissue paper is also acid free and made from 100% recycled waste.
Card & Cardstock
I try to keep most of my card designs message free so they can be framed or scrapbooked by the recipient. My notecards are made from 100% recycled material and printed here by me in yorkshire. My oatmeal card collection is made from 100% recycled material and my main white card collection is made using FSC certified EC Free pulp.
Cards are always sent with a Kraft envelope which is unbleached to retain the natural wood colour and keep chemical treatments to a minimum, making it a 100% natural biomaterial and a genuine ecological alternative: it is bio-based, biodegradable, recyclable and compostable.
Prints
Prints are printed to order by me to reduce waste. They are printed on either white felt card or luxury sustainable bamboo fine art paper. All prints come packaged in a biodegradable cellophane sleeve made from vegetable starch. with thick recycled board.
Prints are then wrapped in recycled tissue and posted in a cardboard box.
Biodegradable cellophane bags are fully compostable which means that they break down to CO2 and water which can then be reused in the Eco system to make new plants. This will happen in either in home or commercial composting or landfill.
