New Card Stock

Hello! I needed to write a little post about the changes afoot at Brooke Marie…

Due to my current 100% recycled card stock being discontinued from my supplier I have had the headache of trying to source an alternative that is both as eco-friendly and high in quality. So many people when they receive my cards remark on the quality, and at £3.50 each I think that’s a reasonable expectation from my lovely customers. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a card that keeps the lovely tactile texture as well as being made from 100% recycled waste, so I have had to make the very difficult decision to swap my current card stock to a card which is not made from 100% recycled material. Whilst the card is still uncoated and made with FSC® certified, environment-friendly ECF pulp, to me it doesn’t seem quite as good an option as one that actively re-uses waste.

There are some other advantages to the new card however, it is thicker which does make the cards feel even better quality than before and it is also supplied by a printers so rather than printing at home I can have them printed by a professional. This is really exciting because not only does it mean I can reduce my card prices by 50p I can print in full colour corner to corner, I can also sell and provide wholesale cards to small businesses much quicker, easier and cheaper. So maybe, just maybe, as one door is closed, another door has opened. (Still printing at home for now, outsourced printing and price changes won’t be happening until well into 2023)

My supply issue only effects the white felt card I use in most designs. Some designs use 100% recycled biscuit card which is still available and will be for as long as I can purchase the card stock.
