  • Large Watercolour Brush (I have a squirrel hair one here but any will do.)

  • Watercolour paints, any colour of your choice, I opted for a subtle green mixed using yellow ochre and indigo blue.

  • Mixing Pallette

  • Jar of Water

  • Cotton Rag Paper Bag

  • Scrap Paper

  • Dried Grass

  • Dried Sage Leaf

  • Small Piece of Torn Paper

  • Match / Lighter

What To Do…

1. Mix your colours using your palette, ceramic is ideal as the colours don’t separate like they do on plastic.

2. With plenty of water on your brush use your scrap paper to test the colours and shapes

3. Using the tip of your brush, gently make a thin line for the leaf stalk, as you approach where you want a leaf start pushing your brush down to make a thicker line and gently pull off again to create the leaf tip. Gently bring the brush back down from the tip to the base of the leaf leaving a small gap between the two strokes. Repeat again for the second leaf.

4. Put the bag to one side until it’s dry

5. Rip a small piece of paper and carefully burn the edges to create the paper tag.

6. Write your message and make a small hole in one side, tie with string to the bag.

7. Decorate with a small piece of dried grass and a pressed sage leaf
