December 2023 - A Seasonal Diary
Hello December
The month I began the eternal quest for the perfect mince pie recipe.
It is the month I had absolutely no time to head into nature. I reluctantly let go of Autumn far too late and spent most of December like some mad hare on speed trying to catch up with all the jobs I hadn’t bothered to even think about. I did prioritise baking Mince Pies though, my pastry skills are dreadful and I’m as of yet still stumped. My doting husband kindly told me it’s because I’m buying cheap mince filling (it was not cheap!) so next year the filling is also getting made along with the pastry. I think it might help if my mince pie tester actually liked mince pies but after eating most of them he said to me “it’s hard to make a nice mince pie because mince pies by nature are not very nice”. Thank you Nick.
The magic really came alive this year for Ted, I have never seen him so excited. It was chaos, it was magical, it was stressful, it was fun. It was all too soon over and January here we are.
A short entry to my seasonal journal this month but here’s to 2023, the year I managed to create something and upload it onto here at least once a month. Next year please let me be organised and prepared. FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE.
What has December been like for you? Have you seen anything out in Nature that’s made you smile or just peeked your interest? I would love to know, tell me in the comments below...
