We Eloped!
Just call me… MRS T - The Farmers Wife!
We did it! We’re officially bound together for eternity. I’m so pleased I can now shout at the top of my voice in the most screechy irritating way “MR T, GET YOUR ARSE HERE” and there’s absolutely nothing he can do about it!
Shall I tell you a little bit about it all? We were actually set for a big wedding with over 100 guests and some fabulous food in September 2020. I’ve even got a big £30 Victorian sofa sat in my studio that we intended to use for a makeshift-dress-up-photo-booth area. Goodness, as I’m writing this now all the memories of planning that big day are coming flooding back. Could you even imagine a life now when planning a wedding had nothing to do with masks, social distancing and the overwhelming risks of Covid19?! Maddness! I do however feel really blessed, it was actually a Ted shaped swollen belly that blew the candle out on our celebrations, I feel like he came as a special delivery, his arrival trumped Covid to the wedding cancelling and turned an awful year into the happiest (and hardest!) year of our lives. If you don’t know me then let me tell you that I’m really socially awkward at the best of times, so 110 people to greet and talk to all day wouldn’t have been my ideal situation anyway, I would have found all eyes on me extremely uncomfortable! I guess things all worked out for the best in the end, so on the 27th of June 2021 we set off from our East Yorkshire home and headed the 460 miles to the breathtaking Isle of Skye, yep, you’ve got it, just me and The Farmer! No, Mum’s or Dad’s, no sisters, no Auntie’s or Uncle’s, not even little Ted was invited!

The Beginning Part of The Begining of the Rest of Our Lives!
Coruisk House, Elgol, Isle of Skye
There will be women gasping at my recklessness but I opted for no make-up artist, no hairdresser, just me and Nick drinking tea and talking about how awkward we’re going to look on all the photos and how we hate a scene. Public displays of affection are not our thing and we’re actually glad there was nobody there to watch us trip over and fall on our faces.
Elgol Beach, Isle of Skye
Bouquet in hand, suit and wedding dress adorned, big brown boots on, we got in the Landy and headed for Elgol beach. We purchased two prawn sandwiches, an essential detail I know you all desperately wanted to know, we stood there getting papped by all the beach goers like a pair of celebrities and waited for our boat to come in.
Standard wedding day stuff, you know.
The Middle, Words, Paperwork and I DO Part
Loch Coruisk, Isle of Skye
Our ceremony was on the edge of the beautiful Loch Coruisk which is either a 3 hour hike or a boat ride from Elgol. (We got the boat!) We passed a few tourists who were getting the boat back but once they had departed we were completely alone. Just me, Nick, Francesca the celebrant, Beccy the talented photographer and Ali the awe inspiring piper who told us he’s running from Glasgow to Inverness without stoppping for charity!
The End of The Beginning of The Rest of Our Lives Part
Elgol Beach, Isle of Skye
We ended our special day with pie on the beach watching the sunset over the Cuillen mountains, I feel so lucky that we had that. Just me and my best friend chatting away, no stress, no worries, nothing to do but sit in each other’s company. No matter what life ever throws us we will always be able to come back to that memory. It will always be just ours.
That’s our BIG LITTLE DAY in a nutshell, you can watch it all unfold here on this clever video made by Beccy our photographer!
